Please forgive me using English.

I have a good Crankshaft (Kurbelwelle) excepting for some damage where the Schaftschraube (M10*1)which drives the Rotary Seal (Schleifring) and screws into the Crankshaft Web has dislodged and caused some damage by way of enlarging the recess and internal thread beyond use. I would like to know the best way to repair the hole if possible or, whether to abandon that and drill & tap two new holes at 90 degrees to the original ones. I would appreciate any advice for consideration. I have already asked a tradesman about a weld repair and was advised against it because of the irregular heating may weaken the Crankshaft or cause distortion and lead to premature failure of the unit.

Has anyone else been been confronted with a similar problem as this. I get the feeling it is not uncommon for this type of situation to occur.

Many thanks in anticipation,

Brian Kings, Western Australia.
